Aggeneys
Aggeneys is a small community in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Situated one hundred kilometres east of Carolusberg on the Springbok Pofadder road. Aggeneys, meaning “place of water”, is a copper, zinc, silver and lead mining complex. Most of the town's facilities within walking distance of each other. Facilities in the town include shopping facilities, a post office, a clinic, a pharmacy, butchery, recreational facilities, schools, a police station, etc.
Aggeneys was founded to service the Black Mountain Mine, an underground base-metal operation nearby, currently employing over 600 permanent staff. This copper/zinc/silver and lead mine is just to the west of the town.
The town itself consists of two sectors: The Northern Village and the Southern Village. Most of the town is decorated with green lawns and beautiful trees
Climate wise, the area is semi-desert, with arid conditions in general, but boasting some of the most beautiful and rare fauna and flora in the world.
